I wanted to recap the weekend, but there is just so much I needed to say to certain people, so I decided to cover it all in a series of love letters.
Dear Kevin and Maryse,
I can’t even imagine how much planning and effort it takes to pull off an event that is the magnitude of Book Bash. If it were up to me, I’d only remember water bottles and forget to bring tables and forget to send out invites and no one would show up to see the very hydrated authors. It was phenomenal and fun and somehow even more amazing than last year. This means I can’t wait until 2015, so I hope I get an invite!
Dear Abbi Glines,
Thanks for taking me and Murphy to Disney and for forcing me to get on roller coasters. I hated it, but loved it at the same time.
Dear Front Desk Terrence,
You were cool. You’ll probably never read this because you’re a dude who doesn’t read romance books, who works way too much for way too little, but you got past the first sentence and that is awesome!
Dear Vilma Gonzalez,
It was 2am Saturday night when I noticed an extra copy of Ugly Love in my hotel room. Of course I said to everyone, “Let’s do another scavenger hunt!!!” And so we did.
I’m so terribly sorry I didn’t realize that was your copy and you left it in my room. I’ll make it up to you soon, I promise.
You guys were awesome. Every last one of you.
I can’t thank you enough for giving away so many free copies of Finding Cinderella to hundreds of people. It was insane. Y’all are insane. But in the best possible way.
You are so good at your job. I think they should legalize human cloning, but only if they are cloning you.
Dear Book Bash attendees,
I can’t even. Y’all know I’m not an emotional person, but I can’t count the times I had to choke back tears this weekend from all the wonderful gifts and hugs and words of appreciation. I know I suffer from BRF and I really try to work on it, but know that even if my face says otherwise, I’m perpetually happy and grateful. You guys are the best and every year there are more and more of you, which means I get less and less time with each of you, and that’s the only sad part about this. You guys are the reason for all the wonderful things. So many wonderful things.
You killed it during the concert, as usual. (Great rhythm, btw.) You are freaking hilarious and I can’t thank you enough for all the laughs this weekend. #Mortys #zeen #AdamLovesHashtags
You. Me. Lorde. Eminem. TATE. August. Rebecca Donovan. Can’t. Wait.
You are quite possibly my newest favorite human. My heart hurt a little when I didn’t get to say goodbye to you.
Okay, it hurt a lot.
I write for a living, yet can never seem to put into words all the wonderful things I have to say about you and to you and to the world. I’m not even going to try, because when I think about how last night was the last scheduled event we have together, this weird thing starts happening with my eyes and they get all misty and stuff and I can’t handle it. You’ve helped make a dream of mine come true and I wish nothing less for you in return. You deserve it all and more and a little bit more. #WeLovePuns #WeAlsoLoveEmily
I couldn’t do it without you. Or maybe I could, because I have before, but I do a much shittier job. So thank you. You keep it fun, you keep it interesting, you keep it colorful and you keep it in line.
Dear everyone who couldn’t make it,
The wonderful Kevin and his team put together this awesome video for you guys at home. Enjoy!
