I have had one heck of a ride these past two years. It feels like I’ve been watching someone else’s dreams play out in front of me. I don’t feel like this is my life. Five novels? All five NYT’s bestsellers? Movie options?
However, out of all that has happened, I am the most proud and the most excited and the most EVERYTHING about my next release, Maybe Someday. I have been DYING to tell everyone more about this book, but I’ve been keeping hush for a reason. This has been the hardest project I’ve ever tackled out of all the things I’ve ever tackled. And I’ve tackled a lot of things.
The synopsis for Maybe Someday is rather vague, as is the synopsis for all my books. I’ll tell you a little more about it without spoiling anything, other than the one thing I want to spoil.
The main characters are Sydney and Ridge. They come to an agreement to write lyrics/music together for Ridge’s band early on in the book. Sydney and Ridge begin to develop feelings for one another and sometimes they secretly portray these feelings through the lyrics they write together. (And you guys know I like surprises, so I’m not giving you anything more than that.)
I got the idea for Maybe Someday early this year and thought it would be great to create a book about characters who wrote lyrics, but I actually wanted the reader to experience the music the characters created. I wanted the reader to be able to see the song being created, then actually click a link in their ebook (or scan a QR code in the paperback) and be able to hear the song as they experience it during the scene. I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. It entailed a lot and is STILL entailing a lot and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of musician Griffin Peterson.
He has literally made my vision come to life with his exceptional talent, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Griffin has patiently worked with me to write lyrics based on the scenes in the book and create original songs so that you can experience the music through the Maybe Someday soundtrack. The lyrics tie in with the characters lives/feelings/relationships and it’s freaking beautiful. I am literally in love with this project and have wanted to scream about it since its conception.
And that’s only part of my good news. The other part is that even though the full soundtrack and book don’t release until March 18th, a single off the album is available for download right now.
You can download this song HERE ON ITUNES.
It’s also available on Amazon.
If you want to hear an acoustic performance of the song first, then just go watch Griffin perform it on youtube here.
Warning: The video is highly addictive. Some of you have already watched it, because it’s a song Griffin put up a while back. And since so many of you (myself included) have requested he release it on more than one occasion, and since it’s now an integral part of a scene out of Maybe Someday, he’s making it happen! For us! Cuz he’s just really awesome like that.
I’m In Trouble (Amazon)
And even more good news. (This is like good news number five, already!)
Because of the collaboration, Griffin will be joining me in 2014 to celebrate the release of Maybe Someday. We will be signing books, etc. and you can also experience the entire soundtrack performed live by Griffin during the release party. More information will follow in the next few weeks regarding the signings, but we do know for sure that Portland will be March 22nd, and we’ll also be doing release parties in both our home states of Texas and Wisconsin. Once we get dates and venues, we’ll let you know. And depending on the interest for those, we hope to add Nashville and maybe a few other places to the list.
Wait! There’s more! (I sound like an infomercial)
