People are genuinely nice. I really believe that. Most souls crave the good and do their best to ward off the evil. I’m slowly learning that. Of course there are a few out there who have no souls. But is it fair of me to allow those few to represent the majority? No, it isn’t.
So, I just want to say a quick ‘thank you,’ to those who know who they are. Those who turn my confidence on every time I turn it off.
I think I’ll thank you through a poem. This poem is called ‘Sidetracked.’
We all have our differences
Some good, some bad
You may like Nickelback
I think they suck balls
Balls didn’t rhyme with bad
But I really don’t care
That’s how much I hate listening to Nickelback
So very much, that the thought of it
Totally hijacked my poem
And now none of it makes sense
And none of it rhymes.
Screw you, Nickelback.
But not literally. Gross.
I know I pick on Nickelback a lot, and probably promote the Avett Brothers a little too much. But let me give you an example of WHY I do this. Here are some profound lyrics from The Avett Brothers that so easily explains my mood today.
“My confidence on and my confidence off
I sink to the bottom and rise to the top
and I think to myself that I do this a lot.”
And now, here are some Nickelback lyrics.
“Dirty little lady with the pretty pink thong
Every sugar daddy hittin on her all night long
Doesn’t care about the money she could be with anybody
Ain’t it funny how the honey wanted you all along.”
Yeah. Ok. ’nuff said.
